We are committed to raising public awareness about the prevention, early detection, and treatment of eye disease and blindness. Our member physicians prioritize patient safety and uphold the public's direct access to ophthalmic care. We are committed to protecting patient safety and delivery of the highest-quality eye care in Virginia. VSEPS members proudly act as patient advocates who work vigorously to preserve the quality of medical eye care in the state.

The Voice of Ophthalmology in Virginia
We are passionate about representing our members in the ever-evolving landscape in medicine. VSEPS is your go-to resource about ophthalmology and eye health for the public. We monitor and engage with state regulatory boards, agencies and coalitions. As your liaison to the Medical Society of Virginia and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, VSEPS amplifies your voice in shaping policy and programs across the medical community. VSEPS stands with you at the Virginia General Assembly, advocating on critical issues including:

• Malpractice liability limits 
• Office-based surgery 
• Insurance contract provisions and reimbursement 
• Surgical suite approvals and technology access 
• Scope expansion for insufficiently trained providers 
• Medicaid payment formulas and rates  

These decisions are made by elected professionals -- citizen legislators who rely on informed voices like ours. If we're not at the table, we risk being the entree.
