At its June annual meeting, VSEPS members elected John T. McAllister, MD, and Jessica D. Randolph, MD, FASRS as its President and President-Elect respectively for 2024-2025. Dr. McAllister replaces Kapil Kapoor, MD, who completed two terms as VSEPS President. Dr. Kapoor was recognized for his service at the VSEPS annual meeting in June.
A comprehensive ophthalmologist with Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Practices, Dr. McAllister is the AAO Secretary for Federal Affairs, a member of the AAO's Leadership Development Program Class of XXV, and a leader with the Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Randolph with VCU Medical Center's Department of Ophthalmology, is a graduate of the AAO’s Leadership Development Program, and holds leadership roles in ASRS, including the Women in Retina (WinR) mentoring program, recruitment and mentoring program developer for the ASRS Ad-Hoc Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, and AUPO student mentor. As Director of Medical Student Education & Assistant Professor at VCU, she’s implemented alternative training modalities into residency education.
